Eck has quickly become one of my favorite Padre players, and one of the guys that I most respect for the career he has put together. Few players have ever gotten as much out of their natural talent level as Eck has during his winning career. Without one exceptional god given physical baseball ability, he has instead used his huge will to compete, his discipline to work hard, and focus on every single pitch with a “How am I going to help my team win this game on this pitch?” mentality to create a career that has already included World Series Championships, and lists of personal awards as well. He plays the game with an intensity that honors the game, and inspires anyone who is around him to dig just bit deeper inside and bring out a little bit more of what they are capable of doing. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met, and always will give you a moment of his time no matter how busy. Thank you, David, for making the game of baseball better both on and off the field with your amazing attitude and personal character. Now, go get dirty!
