Beard Sent Out In Effort To Shake Things Up For Padres

Image 4In an effort to shake things up for the Padres who are off to a sluggish 1-4 start to the season, a move was made today

as Bob Scanlan’s Beard was designated for assignment.  The Beard was invited to big league spring training after a tryout during the off season.

Hopes were high coming out of camp, but after going 1-4 during the first road trip it was felt a change needed to be made.  “I’m grateful for the opportunity I was given”, said The Beard.  “I wish things had gone differently, but I understand this is a business.  All I can do is go down and work on some things, and hopefully get another opportunity later in the season.”

Scanlan’s clean face will be in Denver this morning, and is expected to be available for today’s Padres broadcast vs. the Rockies.  You can hear all the action on the MIghty 1090, with the first pitch scheduled to be thrown at 1:10 PST.
