Congratulations to the Padres on a tough 2-1 victory tonight, and to manager Buddy Black getting his 400th career managerial victory.

Tim Stauffer appears to have had a very successful rehab start tonight, throwing 7 scoreless innings for Lake Elsinore.

The Padres traded their most tenured player in the organization, right handed reliever Ernesto Frieri, to the Angels yesterday afternoon in return for two minor league players.  

The Padres’ brief and only winning streak of the season was brought to a screeching halt tonight by the Washington Nationals tonight 3-1.

Cory Luebke was the star tonight as the Padres Broke their their 4 game losing streak, and 13 game losing streak in PETCO Park against the Phillies by taking them down 5-1.

The Phillies continued their dominance over the Padres in PETCO Park beating the Padres 2-0 tonight, and making it 12 wins in a row in the Pads home digs going back to 2008.

It was a classic Coors Field game tonight with balls leaving the yard that would have been routine outs in any other park in MLB.

Pads will try to take the rubber match tonight against the Rockies and take the series for the first time this season. Here’s Buddy’s lineup card.  First day off this season for Maybin.      

Congratulations to Rockies’ starter Jamie Moyer for becoming at age 49 the oldest player in MLB history to be a game’s winning pitcher, after his team’s 5-3 victory over the Padres tonight.
