Congratulations to Carlos Quentin and the San Diego Padres on agreeing to a contract extension guaranteed through the 2015 season, with an option for 2016.        

It was absolutely fascinating to watch.  As close to 35,000 fans eagerly entered Petco Park on a Saturday night to watch the Padres host the Reds, and get the highly coveted annual Padres Beach Towel giveaway,

It was by far the most exciting play I’ve seen from the broadcast booth this season, and it might the the first time I’ve seen a play like it in my life.

The Padres announced moments before the start of today’s game the passing of bullpen coach Darrel Akerfelds.

Stating “We felt it was time to make a change,” Josh Byrnes announced that the team had requested unconditional release waivers on infielder Orlando Hudson.

Congratulations to the Padres on a tough 2-1 victory tonight, and to manager Buddy Black getting his 400th career managerial victory.

Tim Stauffer appears to have had a very successful rehab start tonight, throwing 7 scoreless innings for Lake Elsinore.

The Padres traded their most tenured player in the organization, right handed reliever Ernesto Frieri, to the Angels yesterday afternoon in return for two minor league players.
